JFK&M provided comprehensive MEP/FP/IT design services for the renovation of a 34,000 square foot area on 2 floors of a six-story building for the new Medical Offices and Neighborhood Care Center for EmblemHealth. The Medical office is approximately 25,000 square feet on the 2nd floor and the remaining space of 4,300 square feet is for the Neighborhood Care Center on the second and first floors. The mechanical work included the installation of three new Patterson Kelley gas-fired high efficiency hot water boilers.

The medical offices consist of several specialty areas. Specialty Suites include: Nephrology, Cardiology, Hematology/Oncology, Neurology, Pulmonary, GI, Orthopedics, Stress Test, Echo, Ophthalmology, Podiatry, ENT, OB/GYN, Dermatology, Pediatrics, IM/FP, radiology, lab, and physical therapy. Each area has examinations rooms, consultation rooms, medical assistant stations, a registration area, waiting rooms, storage rooms, restrooms, offices etc.

EmblemHealth has also developed an innovative series of ‘care management centers’ to provide the local community valuable guidance on available healthcare options as well as general wellness. The Neighborhood Care Center contains consultation rooms, kids play area, lounge with panty, staff room, reception, interactive kiosk docking stations, health and wellness area, office space, community room, exam rooms, registrar’s office, utility room, new toilets, janitors closet and passage area. The centers, open to Emblem members and nonmembers, have staff to answer questions on eligibility, enrollment and benefits as well as having health screenings, classes, and a registered nurse, behavioral health specialist and pharmacist available to help solve billing issues, find in-network treatment options, connect members with community resources, assist with enrollment in government programs, and identify health and wellness programs.
